Do You Love Guessing Breeds of Dogs? Game On! Take a Look!
Posted by Catherine Comden on November 4, 2022 at 11:51 amThere are 4 purebed dogs in this photo – can you name the breeds? ????
(HINT: One is a hound, one is a gundog, one is a terrier and one is a non-sporting lap dog.)
We’re super excited, because later this month, you’ll be getting exclusive first access to play a new online game!
???? It will be a daily puzzle celebrates the character and beauty of all the different dog breeds while testing your ability to identify them.
We’re launching it first here in DD and can’t wait to get your feedback! ????
So, what do you think – what breeds are these?

-
Haha. I just read your paragraph saying ones a terrier. Whoops well at least I am on the right track????
-
Afghan Hound, Pug, Cavallier and Mystery Terrier ????
-
Afghan hound, pug, King Charles spaniel and border terrier?
-
Afghan Hound, Pug, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and a Border Terrier, maybe?
-
Great guesses!

Afghan Hound, Pug and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel are all correct!
The mystery terrier is….
Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier!
-
Ohhhh that makes sense I never saw a soft coat. I have to look that up!!
-
They are lovely dogs and do indeed have a soft coat! 🙂 They are usually referred to as just “Wheatens”
-
-
Wow
Ibe if my dog walking clients is a Wheaton. This one still stumped me.
-
It is tricky especially when the “clip” is not the breed standard, right?
-
Ha ha
Yeah….that must be why I didn’t recognize it. I will stick to that excuse ????♀️ Plus…the ones I’ve seen have a lighter color coat.

Oh! It was the Wheaton! ???? Very cool, I am not familiar with that breed. They do look very fluffy. ????
-
I didn’t see the Wheaten either, guys. Next to the smaller spaniel my eyes didn’t catch the size difference – I thought it was one of the smaller terriers but I wasn’t sure which! That was cool that you used a photo that didn’t have the typical “haircut”, Catherine @programdev – good way to make it challenging. And the Cav didn’t have the obvious color, either. I thought maybe English Toy Spaniel at first.
-
@programdev , the wheaten was a diabolical choice! ???? Well played! ????

So funny you guys – I wasn’t meaning to make it difficult! The funny thing is, in real life, I’ve not seen many Wheatens with a “show cut” – most of them look exactly like the puppy clip in the photo. So to my eye, it was obvious. ????♀️
Great reminder that personal experience is not the mark for what others will understand or know!
Sorry to befuddle ya’ll. ????
