Separation anxiety certification?
Hello friends!
I am asking for some feedback on separation anxiety certification and training. I pet sit as well and do drop ins for dog clients who have minor separation anxiety. I am seeing an uptick of separation anxiety cases in my area and clients asking for help. I send severe cases to my local SA behaviorists for the moment but would like to start adding this service in my profession. I am certified with Fear Free but I want to do more work with SA dog clients.
I am still very green in my dog training (received my Catch cert last August) but I have 20+years of dog/animal experience through zoo keeping, pet sitting, vet tech assistance, and humane society work. I’d like to add CSAT to my repertoire. Any advice would be appreciated 🙂

I think there’s a real need for trainers who have SA expertise. Have you read Malena DeMartini-Price’s SA book (the 2nd/updated version)? I love the way she and her growing group of certified SA trainers gather data that guides them in updating and tweaking their protocols to be as efficient and effective as possible.
Whenever someone contacts me about SA issues, I always refer to a CSAT — their protocols are streamlined, most of them do remote work with their clients, and they actively choose this niche of training.-

Yes I have read and researched Malena Dimartini’s work. I have not registered for her CSAT certification program as I think I need to collect more CEUs and listen to more seminars plus the 4K is a bit steep but it is an investment!
