CAR WRAPS or MAGNETS
Posted by Virginia Dare on May 1, 2024 at 8:00 amIs anyone advertising their business on a car magnet or wrap? If so, do you find it helpful in motivating potential clients to get in touch with you to learn more?
We do a nice job keeping “self-promotion” to a minimum, but let’s relax that rule for just a moment in this post. If you have a car wrap or magnet and want to share a photo, let’s see it! (Remember to keep your profile photo a face shot of you/your dog so that our community remains friendly & commercial-free.)
Have you tried any other unique marketing ideas that have proven fruitful?

Hey there!!
I’ve been considering doing something like this once I get my certification, hopefully before I am 100 years old lol.
I had keychains made up rather than doing business cards.
The best form of advertisement I have found to be my dogs (taking them to stores and/or work), and my license plate (DogMom). In fact, I currently have 4 clients and all were from people in my office building that have met Tank.

@hallerry124! I LOVE that Tank is your advertisement! Really, he’s the best form of it. Everyone loves a well-behaved dog in public. Did the people come up to you to ask about him and his training?
-
Yes! All the time! I’ve done training for the parents of one of our clients, clients of the accountants office next to mine, and for employees of another company down the hall!

Ooooh, I love this so much, @Halberry124 ! Tank for the win!!!

Real-time advertisement-showing off your skills! This is great.

Great conversation!!
I don’t do a car magnet, I have instead a window cling with my logo and phone number with my Samson and Tara, sitting sweetly on a LLW. ????.
I’ve gotten great feedback about the logo. I also have color business cards in a square format…they have a velvety paper feel, lots of good about that.
I like my T-shirts/hoodie that I wear to at least my first consultation and on walks. The back of them says, “Don’t follow me, I’m out with your dog!” in response to businesses asking people to follow them on social media, LOL. I have that slogan on my website as well. The only social I do is Instagram, and that was very begrudgingly (at first), because my CATCH director recommended it and wouldn’t give up.
Lastly, I have a garden flag based on my color business card design. Lots of dogs in my neighborhood.
Pens, too, with just the name of my biz and the phone number. I give them out at initial consult and sometimes take to vets offices.

I have a personal training background. I have used car magnets back in 2006 when they were a “thing” and seemingly popular. I recall only 1 conversation. While at a home depot a woman stopped, mentioned she liked my slogan and she would call about training; I am still waiting! I used them for about 2 years before removing them.
I am not sure I would do a wrap- just not my style; I don’t even like bumper stickers on my car. If I can remove it like the magnet, maybe.
On the consumer side, I tend to stay away from companies with “loud and blarring” wrapped vehicles.
I am pretty low key. I am still very much old school with referrals-it works.
I do like to donate to animal related raffles or fundraisers when I can. It can provide an opportuity for exposure and marketing. It is also targeting people with pets vs a general market.
I also think marketing has to be about your target or ideal client. My heart belongs to helping shelter, rescue dogs who struggle behaviorially (and their humans).
It is interesting to read what works for others, though!

@jenz , I love your idea about donating when you can to fundraisers or raffles. Not only gets your name out a bit, it also helps a worthy cause!
