This week our mini theme is Greetings. To join our safari event, post a video or photo of two dogs meeting. Dogs should be safely introduced on loose leads or on opposite sides of a fence if there is any risk of a conflict. Please be as safe as possible and do not introduce any dogs with any history of aggression toward humans or dogs!

When you post the photo, tell us a bit about the context and your observations (not interpretations!) To get us started, here is one of my favorite dog-meets-dog photos with my observation.

Penny the Vizsla is a young adult spayed female (on the right). She is greeting Seagram, a 10 week old male Weimaraner pup. Penny has handicapped herself, lying down and is nudging Seagram from underneath his jaw. Her eyes are soft. Her ear flaps are open. She is licking him under the chin (you had to be there, for that one.) Seagram’s body is frozen, stock-still and tense. His muscles are flexed. His tail is tighly tucked. His ears are tight. He has “worry ridges” over his eyes and his muzzle is closed and tight.
