Hey everyone. I am still in the process of working on my new year goals, but one of them is to add new behaviors and activities to my regimen with my dog, Tuff. I feel like it’s gotten stale, stagnant, and rather boring. We’ll still keep some of the old stuff but I want to liven things up and do more fun stuff. Plus, there is only so much you can do a retrieve before it gets boring (or you injure your dog). As such, I have been working on teaching him to nose target a very large exercise ball (that was actually made for horses). I’m basically teaching him treibball for fun haha. The end goal is that he pushes the ball into a “goal” between two cones outside in our yard.

Can I get your feedback on this video from just a few minutes ago? I’ve never taught a dog this before so any tips would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!

This is great, @ZaneB ! I moved it here to the new Targets channel so people can find it easier. Can’t wait to read the feedback! Thank you for posting!

Hi Zane, I understand the challenges of keeping our dogs engaged and developing new games. I try to refer to other positive trainers so I can mix up activities with my German Shepard.

I love the training hints and insight I get from Susan Garrett. I’m currently watching episode #135 of “Dogs that” on YouTube. If you haven’t visited her site yet, I highly encourage you to do so.

I’m confident you will find useful info there on her site,as well as, the members of this team. I’ll try to watch the video later this weekend and have a helpful suggestion for you. Take care
