Hazel often digs to uncover something she smells in the ground that is invisible to me. It’s different than the type of continuous “full-body” digging that Joy is up to here. I’ll see her scenting an area intensely, start pawing at it carefully, sometimes with just one paw. Then she excavates a small hole, continuing to investigate with sniffing and digging until she’s satisfied. Then she just leaves the hole. I can see nothing. There’s a whole ‘nother world in front of us that only the dogs “see”!
