I want to share another simple but invaluable handling tip relating to this picture. If you’re standing still and getting pulled, turn to the side so that one of your hips is facing in the direction of the pulling dog. It only works when standing, but check out what a huge difference that makes in your stability, control and leverage. It will not only keep you and the dog safer, it can buy you time to think, get a treat, or collect your strength to move the dog further away from the trigger.
