Thank you, all! @David , I do need to drag out the time between rewards and look for a dog to settle into the Down-Stay. I probably empathize too much with dogs, blame it on my ADD…????. I am also too much of a slacker/grazer myself, so I figured everyone likes to snack while resting. Sorry for the introspective answer.
@Cait , that is awesome about Harrison! Thank you for sharing, I really do LOVE the idea of a client looking at their computer for 3-5 min and working from there!
I have a puppy client (black Lab/hound mix) who’s about 8 months old who is really doing well after a couple of months of private lessons and is starting to really“settle” into her Down , even when we don’t put her into a Stay. I am fascinated watching how different dogs learn and finding new ways to reach different dogs (especially within the same pack!).
