Hi Catherine! Thanks for the reply and the positive feedback! Well, in this context, I am thinking of when we go to the specialty vet for check ups. He usually gets really excited and/or stressed sometimes. It can be a mixture of the two sometimes (Catch taught me that! Sunglasses).
I’m trying to be fair to him since he’s likely stressed in these situations. The pattern is usually this if he’s stressed/anxious. We get out of the car — he sees another dog— he’ll do some anxious, loud barking— shake offs— I’ll move him away– try to cue a touch to see if he’s ready to refocus. If he’s not, I’ll take him somewhere further away with a visual barrier and let him sniff and decompress a bit before retrying.
