@Catherine: I LOVE this video!!! I often show owners these same things, all starting with the anchor hand being anchored on thumb/wrapped my fingers. So many hold it with it anchored on the wrist and I know you can break your wrist that way.
Another fun fact: walking 2 dogs who pull, each on their own leash, anchor each leash with the thumb and finger wrap, one with right hand and one with left hand… Then, if they each pull, you can use their own body weight against the other by performing the strategy you described, by pointing your hand DOWN and grabbing the other dog’s leash (you’ll be doing this twice, each hand). It keeps YOU out of the action and away from that “drawn and quartered” feeling!
It sounds confusing, but works so well! Hope that makes sense!
