Betty is a VERY anxious dog and tends to stare nervously around without engaging with the environment. Sniffing shows she is letting down her guard! Even my husband noticed how much more relaxed she was, she sniffed more of the neighborhood then we had ever observed, and was enjoying her experience more. (Less rigid body posture, ears up and alert, tail up more of the walk.)
