Great discussion and points of views!

Reading this post, @Bernerlabreclectus I found myself asking if I’d personally ever encountered a little dog who was fearful of noises only vs the entire world being scary for them, including people and proximity. I do not think I have ever, therefore, I also had similar thoughts as @David and @AmyMc , that proximity could still be an issue. If proximity was known not to be an issue and known 100%, then I can see how this might work one or two times for a noise sensitive dog from them being naturally curious or inquisitive. If it was specifically for DS/CC protocol then I would prefer to keep space as mentioned already.

On a side note, I could see myself using this technique on one of my own dogs in an emergency situation, like his leash broke and he is starting to wander off. I would try to pretend I found the best “present” ever and was holding it in my hands, hoping he would be naturally curious and come over to see!
