You trained an alternative behavior that met Titan’s need to greet and your need not to be nipped. Having everyone’s needs met is a top priority for me when I am doing behavior modification. Also, in my experience, shaping seems to help the learner internalize the behavior, and allows them to make the right decisions on their own without being micro-managed by their person.
Back I began learning Shaping, it was to teach tricks but I’m so loving seeing behaviors being taught to help our dogs live better lives! Puzzle has her Through, where she stations snug between my legs to help her settle.
