Congratulations on getting your first client @kathryn. He’s adorable and looks very well mannered. Looks like you are doing a great job. I am very partial to working with shelter dogs. Not only are you helping a dog in need but you will learn a lot. I think it’s excellent that CATCH requires students to volunteer at a shelter. I started volunteering at the NYACC, during the CATCH program as I felt it was the shelter needed the most help since they are the city shelter and required to take in every dog regardless of how difficult the case. It was very fulfilling and gave me great experience. I continued on after I graduated had to stop during COVID as they weren’t allowing volunteers for awhile. Unfortunately, to Jennifer’s point, a shoulder injury, which I’m still dealing with forced me to stop volunteering as a dog walker. I started to think of how I could help and offered to train their dogs who are in foster. They reach out to me periodically when they have a foster case that needs assistance.
