After creating a management plan, I generally offer simple changes to a dog’s routine to show the owner there are fairly easy ways to begin to help their dog. While there are many differences to address in each case, of course, I can nearly always prescribe the following two steps.
1) Ditch the bowl – make every calorie count a fun enrichment!
2) Super short (three to five minutes twice a day)Explaining that these two changes often seriously lower a dog’s overall arousal level generally gets good buy-in from owners.
