Oh Maria, I’m so sorry that your pup and you are in this situation! Mostly it seems puppies are made of rubber, until they are not. Back when I was working in shelters, I knew a little Chihuahua mix who was injured in a similar way, rough-housing with his siblings. Luckily there was a great foster family who was able to care for him until he was adopted.

@pawsup got the supportive care/enrichment/and training list of ideas for dogs on crate rest off to a great start with her suggestions for a variety of food puzzle toys and some impulse control and focus exercises. Keeping that puppy brain engaged and stimulated will sure help a lot! While not everything there will be appropriate, there is a whole channel for enrichment here at Digging Dogs to explore for more ideas to add.

Maybe bringing in things from the outside world to engage your pup’s senses too? Perhaps items that smell interesting and/or placing their crate near an open window? If there are items you don’t want them to ingest, you could consider doing a shelter dog enrichment trick and put the smelly items in a capped PVC tube with holes drilled in.

Then there is the question of socialization! How old is your pup @dogmama?
