If it is play (described as rough, rude or maybe just his play style, learned or innate), I think it is a problem since he is ignoring the Bulldog’s clear communication. This can eventually lead to conflict or ruin their relationship building. (As I mentioned in Bruce’s original post, I did not love the interaction but not too concerned right now and thought an intervention was needed to avoid escalation)
If his potential playmate was a different dog, one of larger size or different temperament, the lack of communication skills could easily lead to a serious conflict and injury. That conflict could also cause a shift in the Brindle’s emotion of how he now feels about other dogs, either becoming fearful or aggressive.
