What a great topic! I love how much detail you gave. Did this dog always jump to greet, and you are just coming into the picture now to help with it? I was trying to think how much it was the dog has had time to be reinforced for the behavior. How did the owners handle it when he jumped? I agree just turning your body may not make such a difference if he/she has been reinforced for almost a year. I applaud your idea of the place cue and rewarding all 4 on the floor. That’s great. And also parking away to lower the excitement. I wonder what other management tools can be put in place, I was also thinking maybe scattering treats all over the floor, so his mind is focused on the ground. I can’t wait to hear others chime in so I have ideas for the future. I have been lucky to work with younger dogs that it was not reinforced as long. Maybe even a cue like go say hi and the dog comes back to you for a treat, when on leash so again they are more focused on you! Please keep me posted I would love to hear what works!
