Hi everyone, my name is Jo Duckworth and I have a 14 year old Carin Terrier named Pepper (see pfp).

I’m 23 years old, have had pets since I was probably about 4 or 5, but just recently started really getting into the world of dog training. I love animals of all kinds. I started getting into pet care at 2018 when I was in college, then continued it when I dropped out and came back home. In 2019, I started fostering and had the privilege to train a service dog for a program. I still volunteer train for the program, though not too often as the training base has grown.

I’m attaching some pictures of the fosters I’ve had!

Thank you, I do my best for these dogs, even if I wasn’t ideal. Pepper was and still is a grouchy old lady, so sometimes it was rough in the house.

Ah – bless her heart though, for putting up with the rowdies. David just posted some great tips over in this thread that you may find helpful for her as well. Check it out.

Welcome, welcome, Jo! These dogs are all gorgeous – but especially the Shepherd and the Dobe. Wow! They are so lucky to have had you caring for them. Thanks for introducing yourself and sharing what’s important to you. I think you’ll find our community a wonderful place for sharing and support! ????

Thank you for the kind words. Yes, the GSD and the Dobe were beautiful. The GSD, Apache, is actually the one I got to take through the training program all the way. Sadly, the Dobe, DJ, didn’t make it to being a service dog, had too much public anxiety. But I think he would make a great at-home service dog for someone.

It’s amazing, isn’t it, how much we learn from every dog we have our hands on!?

Thank you for the kind words. I’m happy to get the chance to foster, experience and a chance to work on training different kinds of dogs.

Welcome to you @joduck, I love that you jump right in and shared your pictorial history of your foster dogs. I’m jealous, as I planned to start fostering this fall, but some things came up and now not sure when I will get to do it, but am SURE that I will. Anyway, I’m Nina and no, I don’t own a beagle but I do love this breed.
