An introduction and hello
Hi. I’m happy to be here with you (virtually, that is!). I retired a few years ago and started volunteering at my local shelter – Delaware Humane Association (DHA) – (the one our President uses, BTW). Because I have a strong background in B-mod and my wife – medical, we evolved into being the go to foster family for the medically compromised and providing hospice care. We currently have an Airedale-mix pup who just had complex heart surgery for a congenital malformation. The Univ PA vet surgeon is quite excited about publishing this first ever procedure done in the US on a dog. Almost 4 weeks post surgery and our pup (Bear) is doing v well. Hats off and extreme kudos to DHA. They selflessly decided to spare no cost in underwriting this five figure procedure.
Oh well. It is quite late and I have a habit of yacking too much when I’m either tired or excited. I’m both these things right now while thinking about Bear, our miracle pup – and the fine people who put a good life above money.
