Bliss’ Pupdate: Prepped & Ready
I thought you all might want to see our puppy arrival preparations. ????
With any luck we won’t need half this stuff, but as a former vet tech, I’m well aware things can “go south” and I’d rather be prepared. I used the book Nurturing New Life by Ji Khalsa of Midwoofery.com for my preparations. Her book is invaluable for new breeders!
Anywho, here’s the tour. ???? Have you ever witnessed puppies being born?

like I mentioned before, I DO remember that one and only litter of Samoyed puppies. I was 8. There were 7, and it happened in the middle of the night, so I didn’t get to see the first one born, but I saw the rest. I can’t believe our mama Sammy, Tasha, LET ME help. My mom said she trusted me, otherwise she’d have told us. I loved each individual. I bonded with and loved each of those puppies that first 8 weeks and I cried rivers when they were sold (except for one female).

I’m glad we set that whelping box up early. She’s pretty comfy in there for a dog who really believes in freedom. I have been using the pen to close her in there every night. She’s not always in the box, she’s often next to it, but I think it’s a lot better than her digging in my closet!
How cool to witness little Sammies come into the world at such a young age, @bernerlabreclectus and what a sweet mama dog to let you. Glad you had that experience!
When I was little we had a Weim x Lab who had puppies, and my mother wouldn’t let me anywhere near her with good reason, I’m sure. Mom read dog body language before it was cool. haha.

Thank you! We were ready for anything. I am glad I had the Pedialyte and Karo for Bliss as it got her going on drinking afterward, and the calcium! Puppies haven’t needed much yet – I’ll post an update and tell their stories, soon. ????

Ahh is she a mini Australian shepherd or standard? I have a black tri mini Australian shepherd! I hope everything goes smoothly!

Both parents here are standard Aussies. I’ve got other posts up now – babies are doing well!
