Absolutely adorable! I do say one of my dogs favorite snacks are bananas! Mack and Callie also enjoy watermelon this time of year. I like to freeze in their Kongs! Also blueberries- which are a great size:)

❤️ Thank you @pawsup for sharing!!! ???????? That is so cool that your pups love bananas too! ???? Sounds like bananas are a big hit amongst the dogs. ???? I never thought of stuffing a Kong with watermelon before! ???? What a great idea! ???? ???? We will have to do that. Yes to Blueberries! Wai LOVES frozen blueberries, but he says he will pass on all strawberries. ????

I’m working on precision performance behaviors with Bliss, and needed something I could hold in my mouth… so I got out the string cheese… she about lost her mind, in the best of ways.
I now have doggie “crack” unlocked. lol
She’s kind of a picky eater, so this was a fun find.

@catherine Omg string cheese is a favorite with my guys. I love how it can be broken(ripped) into such small pieces!! Glad Bliss finds this as amazing as my guys!
-
What’s funny is she would STILL rather work for a tug toy. Play > food, for this dog. It’s so lovely to have options, am I right?

@catherine Yes!!! ???????? Wai and I LOVE LOVE LOVE string cheese too! ???? It sounds like Bliss is LOVIN it too!! ???? ???????? It is our go-to for our walks, managing triggers, and so much more. ???? I second what @pawsup said, I love how it can be broken up so easily! Wai said his favorite part is when it comes in different flavors. Although those devalue quickly. Lol ???? Funny enough, we haven’t found a treat with a higher value than Mozzarella String Cheese. Even chicken is lower value than the cheese! ???? lol. Sometimes we get lucky with new treats on our walks, but they quickly loose their value when we are outside. Inside it is different. The newer treats will have a little more value than outside. But even that doesn’t last long. ???? Lol I guess that is me competing with the environment has to offer. Like sampling some doggies messy gossip they left on the ground (poop), or listening to the new Howl-It-Out-Loud band the neighbors dog just started up or a???? HOT lookin pooch on the other side of the road… (sigh) ???? ???? ???? I guess it will be String Cheese for life! ???? lol
-
@WaiThePuaPup oh yes String cheese is higher value for Mack then chicken or any other type of meat. I think it’s also interesting that American cheese trumps string cheese for him????♀️ Callie on the other hand will do anything for a piece of kibble. Lol
-
@pawsup That is so cool that Mack likes American cheese!!! ???? ❤️ ???? I love how your girlie will work for kibble! ???????? ❤️ I also have tried using other types of cheese, I thought maybe Wai would like the same cheese I like! That way we both get some goodies. Unfortunately I am not a huge fan of Mozzarella. I know it’s so crazy, but unless it is on pizza or something, I’ll eat it. ???? Lol so Wai gets a whole loot to himself, lucky boy. ????

This is fascinating @WaiThePuaPup and … great observations! Environment does matter!!
You are reminding me… I need to get our flirt pole back out – because I almost lost Bliss’ brain during our morning Rally heeling practice today. We’re in a new place and there were signs of SQUIRRELS everywhere…. I didn’t have the cheese on me – but the chicken I had didn’t have the pull I needed to overcome the potential for SKWERL CHASE. (If I’d had the flirt pole, I could have given her the chase she needed, in response to her precision heeling for me.)
I ended up moving to a different area and working on activities that took up more of her mental space – precise body conditioning and high platform work. It did the trick. I got her back in the game.
They do keep us on our toes, don’t they!?
-
Yikes the squirrels! That is great that you were able to find another spot for Bliss to work in. ????
Haha ???? yes they do keep us on our toes! ????
-
Sometimes, our tippy toes!! Especially when they are on Skwerl PawTrol! lol
-
UPDATE: I took Bliss to the same spot to train this morning. I took a tug toy and cheese.
CHEESE > TUG!!! ????
And CHEESE = SQWERL ????
(Well, at least, the sniffs of past squirrels… no squirrels were actually present.)
I DID NOT KNOW that Cheese > Tug. So that was a fun discovery!
I bet Flirt Pole > Cheese though… I will try this soon. Should be a fun one.
So fun to keep learning about my own girl! Thanks, @WaiThePuaPup

@catherine That is so cool that you are trying different rewards. It would be interesting to see which is greater, flirt pole or cheese? ???? Let us know which one she likes. ???? I agree, I feel like even I am still learning about Wai too! ❤️ Always something to learn from dogs. ❤️
-
Every dog teaches us continually, if only we stop and observe, think and remember!
-
@catherine discoveries about Bliss are fascinating! She is more complex, and yet simpler than you thought, I’m observing…?
One thing I appears try to point out to my clients about cheese is that if you leave it out for awhile BEFORE you train, you’ll get an even more attentive response. My BF taught me to not think that everything needs to be refrigerated and tasting like plastic. ????
-
@bernerlabreclectus – Your BF is so right – “ripe” cheese is definitely more attractive to the dogs… but… I’m using it in a certain way, such that the reward comes from my mouth. (Yes, I’m spitting it to her.) So I don’t mind if it’s cold and firm! I know this is disgusting, but I suspect it’s all the more tantalizing because it has my saliva on it.
MMMmmm.
Dogs are “special” aren’t they!? ????????
