Wishing all the pups of the DD community a peaceful 4th of July. Thankfully, we’re able to offer respite to my mom’s dog, Luna, from the local fireworks barrage. They just heard the tail end of the next town over’s firework display, but every pup’s quiet and resting now. Both Luna and Caber were able to be soothed with Relax My Dog Music on YouTube.

Glad it went smoothly for you all. Lucky Luna, to have a country home. 😉

It was noisy here, but the girls did ok. I’m sure we’re not done with the craziness yet, it being the weekend…

Hope everyone stays safe out there!

Awe! So sweet to see your sleepy dog!

I agree it’s so hard on the pets (and wildlife). The dogs I was pet sitting for did great, considering it is a suburb of Chicago that is heavily populated by people who insist on seeing off their own personal fireworks displays. I actually asked ahead of time how they do with fireworks and the owner said they don’t really mind. Which was good because we had a 9pm bedtime walk and I felt like I was going deaf after all the amateur fireworks simultaneously going off with a couple professional displays! Argh!!! Both dogs were champs. So proud of them.

One of my earlier walks (2pm) the Samoyed was doing so well with LLW and Heeling, but then some neighbor started lighting off noisy fireworks in the driveway and she just freaked. She started panting, pulling and weaving, reaching for home and crying.

I know hoomans love their explosives but I really detest the fireworks, the older I get. Especially the BOOM ones with no visual effect. I just feel so empathetic for the poor animals. I even heard some crying dogs who people (maybe out for their own festivities last night) had left in a dark home, while I was walking these two dogs last night.
