Fun Body Language Break Down
I was pet sitting a few Maltese mixed pups a while ago. ???? Lime is the one with looong legs and the other is ????Coconut.
This is them right before bed time, before Coconut goes into his crate, Lime sleeps in doggie bed.Any guesses what is happening? I will guess playful, fun, from Lime.
Coconut playful, “can I have your bed?”, and fun. Lol ????

Such cuties! I think the one who is standing is like, “C’mon, dude, get up and play with me!” Trying from every angle to get the other one up on his feet! Ha!

This is great @Keala_Wai – how did it end up? Was Coconut successful at getting Lime up?
This could have been “just” play – but I think you are right; there appears to be an underlying motivation (no pun intended!). Coconut has just a little tension and some lip-licking. I wondered if his glances back were a request for help?
Are there other beds?

????Hi! In the end, Coconut went into his crate and laid down. He wasn’t able to get Lime up lol, I think Lime was like “Nope, I can’t move Coconut I weigh 100 lbs.” ????
There is only one dog bed. His owners put Coconut inside the crate because he will pee everywhere if not crated. Still being potty trained. Lime stays on the dog bed, but is also allowed on the human bed. The time I was there, he didn’t go on the human bed.

Yes I also noticed that Coconut’s body language was not as fluid as Lime’s.

Nice observation! Thanks for the follow up details; it confirms the guess that more was going on for these dogs other than “just” play. Reminds me of the Beagle’s strategy in this post.
