Puppy Brain by Kerry Nichols
Even if you never plan to breed a dog. Even if you’re not into Golden Retrievers. This is an AMAZING story of what a good breeder does, and what owners can continue doing. I was only a few pages in when I had collected several “aha” moments, and I think I know a thing or two on these topics! ????
The author is a former attorney, but don’t hold that against her. ⚖She’s a passionate breeder of high quality dogs and her wit and humor come through loud and clear. It’s simply a fun and informative read for all dog lovers and especially good for trainers, I think, to understand what a difference a good breeder can make in setting a puppy up for success in our modern world.

I am so happy you feel the same way!! I love how she explains everything from getting ready, babies coming, and steps to get ready for the owner along with how the puppies brains are developing week to week, etc. I refer to all my puppy clients, also great info on house training, crate training and lots of basics. Over all A+ book in my eyes! So happy you got it, mostly with your beauties having babies!!

It’s a wonderful addition to my library and because she has so much ❤ in her story, it’s a wonderful counterpart to the “how to” whelping and delivery books I’ve accumulated. That she’s on top of the latest science is bonus! Every dog owner should read this book.

Oh, has anyone read Kim Paciotti’s, “A Puppy’s Perspective?-101 Puppy Training Tips You Need to Know”?
I just found this book on Amazon as well, she is a breeder of English cream retrievers who I follow on Instagram, who looks like she does so much of this with her litters from early age…
Really getting a puppy-itch here!!!

Oooh that sounds like another good one! It’s a battle of the golden-breeder authors! The Puppy Brain author also breeds “English Cream” style.
Makes for some really cute puppy pics, that’s for sure!
