Hi! I am Jenny Stevens and I am a Catch! student who is just feeling so fortunate to have found this program! I own a Dog Walking/ Pet Sitting business and have been weaving the Dog Training service into my offerings. I have Certified Fear Free and am going to make my business a Fear Free Pet Care Company with additional Fear Free Certified Pet Care Specialists. This feels really good to me and I am now just in the process of educating my Clients, Pet Care Specialists and the community at large about what it means to provide Fear Free care for pets. I believe that this is a small way that I can make a difference.

I have had the fortune of meeting some amazing people as a result of taking this new path. I have been fortunate to find a whole set of mentors at the local animal behavior practice run by Dr. Amy Pike, and her team has welcomed me to shadow classes whenever I can. Reactivity is getting to be my jam. My mentor, Jen Pennington has been amazing. SO amazing that I have to force myself to take time off from working with her classes and with the Animal Behavior Wellness Center so that I can get back to hitting the books so I can finish my certification!

This week I received some amazing news! My local animal shelter has invited me to interview for a new program in which I will be taking shelter dogs on Field Trips and doing some basic leash manners training along with socialization! I am so excited to have been chosen for this opportunity!

I had given up on the shelter since I had not received a response from any of them and approached a local rescue. They interviewed me and want me to come up with a training program for the rescue. I told them that I need to put it on the back burner for now. Too much on my plate, but am working with my mentor to figure out a proposal of how I would work with them and what I can do for them.

All because I am learning from the great people at Catch! I look forward to interacting more with all of you as you have so much to offer and hope that I can contribute to the community!

Congratulations on making the most of all these amazing opportunities, @Jenny ! We’re really excited for you! Please keep us posted especially as you develop training plan ideas that work in the shelter setting – I’m quite sure there are a ton of members here in Digging Dogs who would love to know more about those programs. Again, congrats!

Just interviewed with the shelter volunteer program and will be starting in the next week or two with a great program to get the dogs on the road for walks in the community! I will be working directly with the behaviorist and trainer at the shelter!
