GSD guarding children from Anatolian
Hi – question and guidance requested. A friend about 6 or 8 months ago got an Anatolian Shepard pup to be a working livestock dog. And she is also a in house dog. My friend has a 3 year old GSD also. Life has been good until recently. The GSD recent has taken it on herself to GUARD the children from Anatolian Shepard. Any time kids squeal or try to play with Anatolian the GSD starts a fight. I gave her management info as an immediate measure to avoid fights. Looking for training suggestions

Hi Elaine, this is challenging to be sure. If I’m reading correctly, the Anatolian is approaching sexual maturity. Is she spayed? If both girls are spayed, they are likely to be less tolerant of each other and more difficult to integrate once they’ve started fighting. There is a LOT that can go into evaluating a situation like this. It wouldn’t be appropriate for us to toss out suggestions in an aggression case without a full behavioral consultation. Do you have a veterinary behaviorist or aggression specialist in your area? @EJN
