Yes, she does this all the time. She has some herding in her according to the DNA test. Do you think it could be some instinctual behavior related to herding?

We do a lot of hiking and i noticed she started finding high spots and running to them and then she would wait for me. She would then run to the next highest spot and repeat the behavior. I did not teach her to do this.

@bmacwatt what a cool photo – looks like fall is already on its way, where you are! And a neat behavior. First, that she’s willing to wait up for you… and the high spot surely is a great position to catch the best scent and sights! My Aussie pup Bliss LOVES being up on things – I like your idea that this is a great vantage point for a stock dog to assess the situation.
