Individual Preferences – What’s the Difference? Video
Agency is the freedom to make individual choices. I thought this video, captured by a friend of mine in Montana with her three dogs enjoying some field time, is a great example of how dogs have individual preferences. Interests and activities vary by, well, lots of things! What do you think are the factors at play in a moment of choosing activity preferences?

Factors at play might be weather, smells, energy levels, age, playmates.
Freya’s standard preferred enrichment is “playing basketball” – we all think this “game” she made up is silly and makes no sense but it’s her absolute favorite so we comply, but say “its so and so’s turn” and try to pass it off to someone else when we see the basketball come out or when we can’t take anymore! Sometimes she covers and guards it with her body. We think she prefers it because she always “wins” since its easy for her to hold onto. She could play on forever…
