I hope everyone is doing ok in this terrible heat! What are some things you do to keep your dogs happy when they can’t be outdoors for too long? We have a fan running on our shaded patio with cooling blankets and water, plus a baby pool in the yard. We play indoor games of tug and tag and add extra enrichment like activity boxes and lickimats, stuffed kongs, etc. We have ditched traditional walks for now, though we did make it to the beach for a couple days! What are your enrichment and exercise go-tos when the weather is uncooperative? P.s. please enjoy the photo of Tiramisu laying in her Bed ‘o Thyme ????

    Hi Lisa!

These are great photos. Thanks for sharing them. It’s great to “see” you here!

My pups and I made it to the lake last week; but it was so hot the water was very warm and their tongues were bright red within 15 minutes. We left shortly after that!

My colleague is taking her two active dogs out for 3am walks so they can be in the cooler temps! I am not that committed.

My girls are getting frozen Toppls for meals and I added a “play blanket” to our slippery floors and loosened the house rules about play. They need to play and it’s just too hot out there!

    Stay safe everyone.

Lisa. What beautiful pictures! I was just sharing with someone how my walks are on hold. Mostly with a Berner and a senior golden. We do a lot of frozen west paws and I have some doggie ice cream:) I have been taking them out but only for potty breaks! I love all your ideas. I really need to up my game. I am lucky my senior girl sleeps a lot. But Mack I know I need to do more!! Thank you for sharing

Love the pics you shared, @LisaOMy !

For the short periods of outdoor time, a water sprinkler may be appreciated by some dogs, or chasing the jet spray from a hose on the grass, or a frozen treat hanging from a branch (in video).

What a fun idea to have a dangly frozen treat. Love how calm he is while enjoying it.

He has super strong, fast legs! But he’s a snuggler not a fighter ❤️

I love the pup tent/canopy! It looks like your sweet pups are enjoying the shade. Yay! And watermelon! How fun is that?! @JCongdon

Me and my One year old Dobie go out for a bike ride/run if its early in the morning enough. (below 90) she wears her visibility vest and dog shoes to protect from debris on the street, and we take frequent breaks in the shade. I carry a insulated water bottle with ice cold water, and she gets as much as she wants. It helps!

As I’ve mentioned before, I don’t have a dog of my own anymore, so I love to share my clients’ dogs from time to time.

Here is one of my favorite puppy clients right now, an English cream retriever, named Daisy. She is 5-1/2 months old and a smart and fun girl!

I’m sharing 2 videos of her that the owner sent to me yesterday. You will see her pawing water to get the toy she dropped on the bottom of the pool, her getting sassy and frustration barking as she leaves the pool…then she tries again and figures out how to go underwater to retrieve it! Hope you enjoy as much as I did.????

She is my dream dog. I hope one day to have an English cream Retriever of my own. ☺️
