Mindfulness and dogs
Posted by Jackie Congdon on July 15, 2024 at 5:26 pmDoes anyone have experience with mindfulness and meditation with dogs? Does this approach really help calm a reactive dog? Another trainer in the shelter where I volunteer studied it and became certified – apparently takes 2 years. I am not aware of this study and can’t seem to find a course on it.
Thx if you have any insights.

I’m interested in learning more about the certification they took. Can you ask for details? I’ve not heard of one.

Yes I will get more info. She said it cost about $10 and took 2 years and only 8 people in the country have this certification.

She found a 2 year program for $10? I wonder if there are CEUs?
And 8 people… that explains why we haven’t heard of it. Sounds like a private course/instructor. I’ve not heard of anything like that before… I know there are folks who do Reiki and Animal Communications with varying degrees of success. That’s the most similar modality I’ve heard of.

Hi Jackie, interesting! I remember seeing his videos in social media ads many years ago, but I’ve never explored the program. I went to his website and poked around a bit. Could be interesting to explore… are you considering taking one of his courses? I didn’t see one for $10 though. Maybe that was some kind of introductory course?
Let us know what you find out!

Hi all. I am familiar with a different, but somewhat related, modality called Healing Touch for Animals. It is energy work, similar to reiki. It can help with stress, anxiety, as well as other types of healing. Heres a link if anyone is interested: https://www.healingtouchforanimals.com/Articles.asp?ID=682
Its sister modality, Healing Touch (for humans), is certified by the American Holistic Nurses Association.
