Missing out!
Posted by Lisa O'Brien on May 14, 2023 at 4:57 pmPopping in to say hello! I’m going to need to play catch-up with all these excellent posts. Unfortunately, my most senior dog, Toki, has been having some health problems again, so I’ve been out of the loop. Looking forward to participating again soon! Here’s a pic of my boy. Send good thoughts his way, please ❤️

@LisaOMy – Aw, Toki! Sending all the good vibes and energy your way, Lisa – He’s soooo lucky to have you caring for him. ???? ???? ❤

@WaiThePuaPup @catherine @virginiad thank you for your kind words and concern! We did a BUNCH of x-ray images on the boy today. Legs, shoulders, back, neck. Waiting for results from radiology but at first inspection, he has SEVERE arthritis and spondylosis in his entire spine. Some places are almost fused together ???? I’m grateful no cancer was seen at first glance. I’m exhausted because I assisted in his appointment as a tech and my heart and brain are fried ???? I hope we can find something to make him more comfortable (he’s already on joint supplements, nsaids, and pain meds). Poor li’l guy. ❤️ Time to ramp up the enrichment even more and choose low intensity, gentle physical exercise. I’ll let you know what we come up with to keep Toki happy and engaged in his senior years. Up for the challenge 🙂

They teach us so much, don’t they @LisaOMy ?
I hope the vet will have ways to keep him as comfortable as possible. ???? -
???? He’s so lucky to have you caring for him! Hoping you are able to get him as comfortable as possible. Thanks for the update. ❤

We are going to turn this into a positive. Radiology report shows all kinds of back problems and restricted exercise is recommended. So we will find new and exciting ways to keep my “young man” enriched and fit. I’ll post about our journey in the hope that others with senior dogs can contribute ideas ❤️ I bet training games with fit bones and other items could be therapeutic. And we already know he loves his destruction boxes ????

@lisad – yes, please share your journey with him! We’d love to see all your ideas and photos/video along the way!! Senior dogs have always tugged my heartstrings. When I’m old, I want to have a senior dog hospice center and just pull all the needy oldies from shelters and give them all their last, best home. ❤

What a sweet idea of a center for senior pups in need! ❤️
