I have a bernerdoodle visiting here soon and the pet parent has kindly agreed to have her paws, legs, and a bit of her underbelly trimmed by the groomer so I have less of a mess to clean up if the dogs have to go outside when it’s wet.

Now’s the time when I really appreciate that my own dogs are near hairless! ????

haha – omd right!? I once had a full-size goldendoodle for a B&T. I had NO IDEA about the coat… none.

I let her outside in my muddy backyard. She had a blast, playing with my dogs. No biggie, I thought, I’ll just wash her. O.M.D. NOOOOOOO that’s not what you do with a muddy doodle. The coat was unsalvageable and she had to be completely shaved. eep. Tough way to learn that lesson.

This morning, I waited for Bliss to dry, then brushed out her coat with a vent brush (my own, donated to the cause). Except for her feet which are pretty much glued solid and need a soak in the lake (which I’ll do on my lunch break!), I got most of it out. All the while, I kept telling her – You are not a Labrador; you can’t be acting like one! lol

Love how your trying to remind her she is not a Lab! The mud situation is tough!!

This is Tux after he nosedived into a mud pit. He’s a Rottweiler mix and was probably sick of being called a Lab and wanted to look more like a Rottweiler.
