Yes, Titan is my pup! He was a behavior euthanasia save from 5 years ago (5-22-19 was his save date). He was at a shelter I volunteer at. He is now 14 years old!
He is a 20% Chow. He displays (in my opinion) mostly guardian and herding behavior tendencies. These behaviors almost cost him his life once he was adopted and, returned for “innappropriate behavior”.
I had no idea this fuzzy bear was in the yard for over 20 minutes. I was taking video of the fuzz ball munching on the bee and butterfly house. Then, when Ring was reviewed, this was recorded 20 minutes earlier!
Here is the very first video I took, before knowing the fuzzy bear and Titan already had their “greeting”. I think Titan tolerated him at the distance or, no longer felt he was a threat.

Titan does look quite nonchalant in that second video. ????

OHMYBEAR!
I love how in the second video Titan looks over his shoulder… he’s like, can you see/smell that, mom!?
Glad everyone is ok!

Thanks-everyone was safe. I am thankful for physical fences!
Titan was either saying “do you see/smell that…” or, telling me it was my turn to handle the situation, that he already had a run at it! The fuzz ball was in the yard with Titan for approx 22 minutes so, I think they may have been comforatable with each other there with the fence and distance. Ahhh, behavior!

Yes to physical fences… I doubt any dog would stay within an e-fence with a BEAR RIGHT THERE! Not to mention the bear being able to come all the way in the yard easily.
So glad all is well. Thanks for sharing this cool interaction!

I so agree with you about the limitations with the e-fence. But honestly, a bear could probably climb right over that fence if he so chose.
Some of my clients have bear fencing (literally) installed — can’t imagine how costly it is, but I’m told it’s effective.-
Definately think the bear could have climbed in but, at least it was a deterrant to keep Titan from pursuing the fuzzy buddy and vanishing on a field trip. Titan is a nose to the ground, the environment is the reinforcer almost always, kind of dog.
