Wanna play? Take a look at this interaction in real time. What do you observe? After you post your answers, tomorrow I’ll drop two more videos where we break down some of the signals these dogs are giving. Until then – let’s observe! We can label these dogs “Righty” (the dog with the handler in pink shirt on the right) and “Lefty” (the dog with the handler in blue shirt on the left).

    Righty:

    Mouth closed

    Shallow play bows

    Lip licks

    Body weight shifted back

    Ears back

    Low height tail

    Curved body line

    Lowering whole body

    Turn away

    Freeze?

    Forward movements orients to face

    Lefty:

    Whale eyes

    Play bows

    Rocking horse gait

    Lose fluid bouncy movements

    High tail

    Mouth closed

    Ears forward

    Face off

Also I think I see that righty is trying to lung towards lefty but he turns away from it

Well done, Kristina! Thanks for jumping in with SO MUCH FANTASTIC DETAIL! @KTinaN

Now watch these two clips and notice what else we can see when we slow things down and take the time to really look at the dogs and what they are saying…

Everyone, drop a comment when you’ve viewed the videos and let’s keep the conversation going!

Dog on right seems conflicted. The observations written out are so good. The slow motion really shows the details and I love all that is pointed out. There are things I did not see. It is so interesting to see the conversations two dogs are having.

      Catherine-

Thanks for these videos. So great to have both versions. I wouldn’t have noticed when rights starts to mimic lefty, that was very interesting.
