Hey everyone! So excited to be a part of this group. Studying to become a dog trainer has been quite the adventure for me and I think I might be borderline obsessed!!! For over 10 years I have been a dog groomer and was at the point where I just wanted to do more: I wanted to be able to give more as well as I have helped previously with shelters and rescues, and felt training was the direction I wanted to take.

I have 3 dogs of my own a rescued English bulldog who is about to be 10 years old, a miniature Australian shepherd about to be 2 yrs old who some days I think he is training me ????, and a 1 year old Belgian malinois which has been the most challenging dog at first to the most amazing working dog I have ever met.

With 3 sides of the spectrum each of them have their own challenges that have kept me so engaged in the training world from dealing with a dog who has lack of motivation to one who resource guards to the point of reactivity to one who gets stir crazy if he isn’t worked enough.

We (my dogs and I) are thrilled to be part of this group and look forward to getting to know everyone and learning more!!

Wow, @kk51101 – what a crew you have there! Such gorgeous dogs. And, you are very brave to take on a Mal – that’s a breed that will keep you on your toes, for sure! And I laughed at your Aussie comment – I have Aussies too – and yes, they keep track of everything, for sure. – Can’t wait to learn more about how you are managing all these personalities together and meeting your goals.

Such a great learning journey! Welcome!

It’s definitely a work in progress but management has been the biggest saving grace for us! Unfortunately our Aussie has been the biggest challenge (he is reactive, low confidence, and anxiety). These traits have been with him since a puppy so I think his genetic and background may be a factor, although I have come across many aussies with similar quirks (I hate to say problem!) I have him on a very slow training program due to his anxiety, but we’re celebrating his small milestones to keep him engaged!

Aussie-some! ???? what a lucky, lucky boy to have you in his life.

Feel free to bring questions or challenges here to DD – we have a pretty big “brain trust” that is eager to help you in any way we can! (Video really helps when asking about behavior!)

Looking forward to getting to know you and your dogs more, @kk51101

@kk51101 What a cute picture!! What a crew you have! Welcome Welcome!! Learning is so addictive for me too in the dog world. Sometimes I have to stop myself because I think people want to hear me ramble on about dog subjects:)

So fun to have such different breeds. I had goldens and a mutt before and now with a Berner he was just sooo different and learned sooo different- which is the reason I went to school with CATCH. I love how you are experiencing such different things with your crew! Can’t wait to see what you bring on DD!!
