Progress with outside recall – off leash
We’ve been all working really hard to get our pups to return to us whenever we call them from anywhere in the yard. It was a losing battle
For a while as they just wanted to play in the large yard. But after many cubes of cheese, generalization with the family, and lots of repetition, they’ve made great progress! We also learned that combining a sudden new noise like chapping is a great way to carry out voice and make it more noticeable. We added this after trying and failing to use a single word. They ignored it after a while as we made the mistake of saying over several times.

Simply LOVELY work, @ruthabigailparadisepaws ! Teddy cracked me up – “I KNOW you have cheese!” haha. Really nice timing of your reinforcers. It’s great that you only called them once, too. Well done!
And they came right in and sat on the towel – perfection.

@ruthabigailparadisepaws , those pups are adorable! I’m especially impressed with how they station on the towel when they come inside!
Have you thought about ways to be able to still use treats without having to carry them, at some point down their training journey? -
