NEW DATE! Dec 1st, 2pm PST/ 5pm EST Canine Enrichment Authors LIVE EVENT
Posted by Catherine Comden on November 1, 2021 at 2:32 pmUPDATE: NEW DATE AND TIME! Link will be posted at the bottom of this thread just prior to the start.
Enrichment is a really hot topic! Authors of Canine Enrichment in the Real World, Allie Bender CDBC and Emily Strong CDBC are joining us LIVE on Wednesday, December 1, 2pm PST/ 5pm EST – Let’s start a list of questions that we can ask Allie and Emily to get the most out of time with them. Whether or not you’ll be coming to this event, LIVE, we want to know what you want to know!
Are you currently using enrichment to solve any behavior or training issues?
What obstacles keep you from using enrichment more?

I want to attend this Live Event but I’m getting too many emails when I “Subscribe”. Will I be notified of the link to participate even if I’m not subscribed?
-
@CountryGirl Diane – you can change your notifications in your platform settings, if that is what you mean? Otherwise, just come here, the day of the event. I will post the link to join right here in this thread so you can easily find it.
-
Now I wonder if you mean Subscribe on the discussion? Because, yes, then you’ll get a notification every time someone else comments. You can turn that off/ unsubscribe and visit when you like, if you like. Let me know if that makes sense! ????

It will be great to have you here, @Anna !

Oooh! I put it on my calendar! Now I should buy the book…
-
Definitely buy the book. It’s the best book I’ve read in a while and chock full of great thoughts and practical tips!
-
I just bought it, @Catherine ! Thanks for the nudge. (So many books to read and now I just need to have a few more days off to go with it.). Thank you! I will definitely do my best to read it before the discussion.????
-
It’s SOOO good – I can’t wait to hear what you think, Paula!

I edited the original post to include an opportunity to ask some questions. Help create the conversation with Allie and Emily by dropping your questions for them in this thread!

Hi @Lys – We are planning on releasing clips from this talk over a couple of weeks in the Featured Topic channel.
-
-
????Just one more day before we chat with Allie and Emily! Who’s coming? Who has questions? Who is reading their book? ????
-
I would love to join this, but I will be in the middle of appointments. Will it be recorded?
-
Yes, Jane @loveyourdog2014 – we will release clips from this talk over the next couple of weeks in the Featured Topic channel!

With apologies, the LIVE event today featuring Allie Bender and Emily Strong is postponed. We will be rescheduling in the near future. I’m experiencing some illness and am not able to host the LIVE today. I’m on the mend and will continue posting in the community.
Thank you for your understanding.

Get well soon, @Catherine and thank you for trying up until the last minute to make this work today! ????????A noble effort but we are in favor of you digging in… to your pillow until you are feeling much better. ????

I would love to ask Allie and Emily what type of enrichment do they see helping with reactivity the most? and what enrichment they have used in their practice that has been the most effective for behavior modification challenges.
For me, getting client’s to be ok with long line sniffy “decompression” walks has been so effective for helping dogs relax in general.
I use snuffle mats for LATTE (look at that and then enrichment) a la “Unleashed” by Leslie McDevitt when doing reactivity practice.

@Abbie These are great questions. Please note: the talk today has been postponed. And when we do meet up with them, I’ll add your questions. Thank you!

Who’s coming? We’re so excited to be chatting with authors of Canine Enrichment For the Real World tomorrow! Allie and Emily are simply fantastic and you’ll love the opportunity to have them answer our questions and teach us more about enriching the lives of the dogs we love! Who’s joining us?
-
Hi Catherine, Allie & Emily,
Unfortunately, I will likely be unable to catch the live event due to scheduling; however I will watch this on the replay. I’m loving the book, about half way through at this point (ch 9), so forgive me if this is covered.
I’m trying to beat my enrichment is more than just food puzzle drum, but I’m feel I’m falling short. For example, I introduce k9 fitness, trick training and treadmill training into my private lessons which client think is super cool but haven’t yet had anyone say “yes let’s go deeper on enrichment”. My question is what are you best strategies for a solo trainer to monetize an on-going enrichment program?
Thanks so much!
Brooke

I would love to attend – where is the link?
Thanks,

Hi @mpyefinch Mary – Glad you are able to join us. The link will be posted RIGHT IN THIS THREAD about 5-10 min before our start. Look for it at the bottom of this discussion. See you there!

So glad I had a few minutes to look over this thread. Hopefully this isn’t too late to post a question. A major issue I run into is that I don’t think I have enough of an “enrichment arsenal” in my life for Tuff. He’s very smart, has a lot of drive, and figures things out pretty quickly when he’s using his nose. My question is what else besides snuffle mats, puzzle toys, kongs/toppls are good for a really smart dog? I’m sure this will help my clients dogs too.
P.S. I really like your question @MindBodyPaws
-
-
Hi Catherine. I’m thinking any kind of enrichment. 🙂 I can only give Tuff so much food per day lol. Don’t need an overweight lab. 😀

Oops Nevermind, I see I got the timing incorrect. See you at 5:00pm

I tried clicking on the link and it asked for a passcode? Edit: I was able to pull it out of the link and paste into the zoom so I can be in the “waiting room.”
-
-
EEP! @Jeri THANK YOU SO MUCH! Since I saw you in the meeting early, I assumed incorrectly that there wasn’t a passcode needed. I thought I had set it so. I apologize to you all! Thrilled so many of you were able to join us! Super grateful for your help on the tech side, Jeri!

-
asking for passcode. @jeri where did you get the passcode on the invite?
-
-
Thank you @Abbie – again, my apologies for missing this detail. I will be sharing the recording in full tomorrow.
-
I’m so glad to hear you will be sharing the video I was unable to attend. Where can I find it once it is shared?
