✅Since we just completed our management plan for Angus, the mouthy Cattle Dog, I thought it would be helpful and interesting to review how we should be planning for Enrichment in general. Awhile back, I interviewed Allie Bender & Emily Strong who literally wrote the book on Canine Enrichment.

Here’s another clip from that interview.

????What do you think about what Allie is saying here?

Think about enrichment for your own dog(s)… are there natural behaviors they are expressing that you’d like to see less of? Are there other behaviors you’d like to see more of?

Love this! Without a plan it’s difficult to know which direction to follow. I’ve started videoing my training sessions so I can take the time needed to observe my dog. In doing this, it allows me time to review the message I’m sending and truly check out his understanding of my requests.

Training is only beneficial when both humans and dogs are in the right frame of mind to learn. I’m much more aware of the messages I send when I’m able to view it. From this, I create a plan (mostly trying to figure out my communications)

This is a great book by the way????✌????

That is brilliantly spoken @lis – messages we are sending and requests, versus commands or even cues!

…review the message I’m sending and truly check out his understanding of my requests.” – Lisa Desrosiers

When we are training together, no matter how carefully we are trying to pay attention, we are caught in our own perceptions.
