We exercise more and we also do lots of mental stimulations. And we do some relax time together where we just cuddle a lot.

I also like to set up a safe space for my dogs to go to when they are feeling overwhelmed. This may be a small room away from guests, or a crate with her favourite toys.

I often also ask guests not to bother my dogs when they are in their safe places.

I also try to have some structure throughout the days.

Along with setting a shy dog up for success as Kristina suggested, by removing them to a safe place, I like the idea of playing calming music and giving them their meals in frozen kongs to increase chewing as a stress reliever.

Before the festivities, taking a nice long hike and do some scent work. Have a room away from the noise and excitement. I would have relaxation music playing to help muffle the noise a frozen kong or lick mat and an Adaptil plug in going 30 minutes prior, and of course soft lighting.
