Hi everyone. Do folks use client management software? If so, what do you use and why do you like it?

I’m not quite there yet, but I’m rapidly approaching the day where I have too many new client meet and greets, sitting appointments, training inquiries to continue using the Notes app on my iphone, combined with my iphone calendar and contact list. It has worked so far, but I’m starting to wonder if I’m a hairs breadth away from missing a meet and greet or, worse yet, a sitting appointment.

So, I figured I’d start the process of collecting names and recommendations, watching demos etc. I know APDT has a few listed under member discounts. Does anyone have experience with Dog Biz Pro, PocketSuite, Gingr etc? Do folks use software for private lesson client management, let sitting clients, online scheduling and payment, group class enrollees or other?

Thanks for leads, opinions, recs etc.

    Hi Ruth! @Ruth

First of all, congratulations on your successful walking and training business!!! That’s a wonderful problem to have.

I understand how suddenly things get busy…my solo business is me doing it all, walks, training and pet sits. Plus all the office and marketing and accounting…CRAZY.

I still use my iPhone calendar and text/call/email clients (mostly text). I am very old school and although that has worked successfully for 4+years, I worry about missing something, too. So, use 7 quarter page sheets of paper stapled together and copy my iPhone calendar for the week there, one day per page. Sounds dumb, in sure, but having that all written down ands I carry with in my car to follow along on a clipboard, on my passenger seat. As people pay me, I mark it on off paid and what method/amount.

My experience with Dog Biz was great for help building my paperwork/contracts/forms and handouts for homework. I purchased their “Private Training Package A” a couple years ago, which includes the B-Mod toolkit, Business toolkit and Homework toolkit). They are very polished looking and easily customizable.

Also, I did Dog Biz THRIVE! for 6 months. There were some truly helpful and amazing tools and they have a FB group (I am not a FB person). I had some great takeaways, but got swamped and couldn’t keep up with the vast amount of teachings and webinars and guidance sessions. For anyone interested, it’s a great resource! Just fizzled out here.

Hope this helps as you grow your business! I’m excited for you. No wrong way to do anything, in my opinion. It grows as we do.

      Hi Paula @bernerlabreclectus

Thanks for your reply. Helps to hear that Im not the only one using a combo of iphone features to manage things. Ah…paper…. brilliant. Two trainers now have shared that they use a paper option for intake. I just hung a paper calendar (finally a use for the free The Nature Conservancy calendars) on my fridge to track my overnights. Maybe…gasp… I can put my training appts on there too as a backup to my phone. ????

    Hi Ruth,

Great topic. I’m sorry I don’t have any recent knowledge of these to share, and I’m hoping more folks will join the conversation. Just wanted to pop in and thank you for the post!
