What to do in -10 below temperatures…?
Posted by Paula Mrazek on January 17, 2024 at 1:11 amQuick share: had to be creative this past few days with no chance of walks for my dog walking clients. It’s been below zero the past three days here in Chicagoland. Lily, the Samoyed, doesn’t mind being out there, but we (her owner and I) say, nope! Out to do biz and then what do we do? Lily loved this non-walk enrichment today!
Charlie and Abbey enjoyed training breaks between going out to their yard to potty…and the cup game, using their beloved frisbees!
What do you like to do with your dog (to give enrichment and stimulation) of you have freezing temps?

Here’s the frisbee “cup game”, LOL! These two LOVE frisbees and treats, so it was a good invention.????

Charlie, Abbey and Lily look like they are having a ton of fun with you when the weather is so cold! Love when you say Double Dog Down- made me snicker:) These dogs are lucky to have you pop in on their days!!

Ha ha! @pawsup , I feel like the lucky one. It’s such a treat to get training time with walking clients. A motivated dog males my job easy!

Thanks @virginiad . Dogs are the best! (Always love my job.). I was thinking for awhile of dropping the walks and petsits, but it is a wonderful way to know dogs in less pressure scenario. I just get to be their best friend while their owner’s away!

SO MUCH FUN! Thanks for sharing these great ideas, @bernerlabreclectus – it’s sooo cold out there! Today it’s in the low 20s and I feel like it’s t-shirt weather by comparison to what we’ve had.
Stay safe!

Ha ha! I know what you mean, @catherine ! Today was 14 degrees and the pups and I were all doing a happy dance outside! (I keep checking on 12-week old puppy clients to see how they’re doing…poor little things.)

Yeah, potty training in single digits and below is not for the faint of heart. I’m SO GRATEFUL my girl seems rather impervious to the conditions. She loved the snow and thankfully, it didn’t get as brutally cold here as you are suffering. That’s really rough for the puppies trying to build good habits!
