Wise Wolf Award for Human Coaching Tip – Lisa Desrosiers!
Congratulations ???? Lisa Desrosiers! ????You are this week’s Wise Wolf!
Lisa, you dropped the nugget of the week, in this thread, for professional trainers and anyone coaching humans with your comments:
I find it best to ask, then observe, how clients are routinely handling their dogs in situations before I show them how I might do it. I pay close attention to the humans’ natural instinct when they handle their dog. I mentally note if there’s tension in their grip, frustration in their face, and stiffness in their motions. Are they holding their breath? Are they lurking over their dog or looking straight ahead when walking their dog? How do they play with their dog?
I believe there to be more success in dog training by including and tweaking the humans’ approach to develop a plan fix it. This empowers the “student” and holds them accountable because it’s “their idea” (with my tweaks) we implement. – Lisa D.Thank you so much for contributing to our community! @Lis
