I will go first, though you probably already know my answer.
Since I was about 9 years old, I wanted to breed and raise dogs. This year I finally did. It’s been a crazy journey, one I’m glad I took. I learned a LOT.
And, isn’t that the point of trying something new? To get out of our comfort zones and push to the next level? Plus, 6 little puppies now exist and I daresay are pretty darn amazing. Bliss blew me away with her ability to be a great mom. And, I learned what a wonderful nanny Magic is, which made me appreciate her all the more.
2025 is a mystery… I’ll have to get back to this next week after my NYE reflection time! Do you all have NYE traditions?

Yes, @catherine , you really took the cake with the new breeder status, helping Bliss to raise those gorgeous new puppies. So PROUD to know you and see this beautiful bunch!!!
Anyway, I’ll get back to you with my reflections…My hopes and dreams for the coming year are this: to find a beautiful new companion Lab for me, my BF and 14 year old Eclectus parrot, Stella. It is not a simple task and requires research, time and money, which I need to be more financially savvy with getting my ducks in a row. So, I’m guessing I will not be adopting for another 6-9 months, but I’m going to use that time wisely!
Also launching a new side business of pet portraiture and singing the lead role in an opera, with orchestra! Exciting and scary times ahead!!!

Oooooh, I hope you’ll share some examples of your pet portraiture. You’ve got so many talents, @bernerlabreclectus !

Well, Virginia, you asked for it! Ha ha…my actual college degree is a BFA in Art and Design…so, it took me awhile to tap back into painting. These are all my own technique in a more heavily loaded watercolor than most people are used to seeing…I layer it on thicker and it looks a bit more like oils when I’m done. ☺️
Hope you like them. Please, let me know your thoughts. I’m currently working on the Bengal kitty in the sketch below…

OMD, these are spectacular, @bernerlabreclectus !!!!! ???? I am absolutely green with envy over your talent. I think my fave is the one of Abbey.
Thanks so much for sharing!

Thank you, Virginia! Oh, I am glad you like Abbey’s painting. She’s the sweetest girl….

OOh I knew you were talented, Paula, but didn’t know you did portraiture. How cool is that!? And congrats on the lead role – wow!! I wish I was close enough to come hear you sing. I’m sure the right puppy will come along when you least expect it. Happy New Year! @bernerlabreclectus

@catherine Thank you for saying that, Catherine! I would love to see you at an event. The production we are doing with my boyfriend’s opera company in August 2025 will be with orchestra! It’s a huge undertaking. We both do it all, singing, behind the scenes (web design, volunteer coordination, etc) and fundraising…I really am looking forward to singing this opera. It’s the title role in Donizetti’s “La Favorita”. ????
